Frequently asked questions

Getting started

What is GB7 Meetup? A community platform to meet locals, travellers, and people who share your interests — around real places, in real life. It is not a dating app: no swiping, no romantic matching.

How do I sign up? Download the app, create an account with your email and a username, and confirm the verification email we send you. Then add your interests and, if you like, a local or travel profile so people can find you on the map.

Account & login

I didn’t get my verification / reset email. Check your spam folder and make sure the address is correct. You can resend from the app, or email us if it still doesn’t arrive.

Can I log in with my username? Yes — you can sign in with either your email or your username, together with your password.

How do I reset my password? Use “Forgot password?” on the login screen, or visit gb7meetup.com/reset-password from the link in your email.

Two-factor authentication (2FA). In Settings → Security you can turn on 2FA with an authenticator app or email codes, and get one-time recovery codes. Keep those codes safe — they let you sign in if you lose access to your device.

How do I delete my account? In the app, go to Settings → Delete account and confirm with your password. This permanently removes your profile, posts, connections, chats, and photos.

Privacy & location

Is my exact location shared? Never. GB7 Meetup only ever shows an approximate point, and you choose how precise it is (approximate, neighbourhood, or city) in Settings → Location precision. Photos you post are automatically stripped of hidden location data.

Who can see me or message me? You control it. In Settings → Privacy & visibility you can hide yourself from the map and choose who may message you (everyone, connections only, or no one).

Safety

How do I block or report someone? Open their profile, tap the “⋯” menu, and choose Report or Block. Blocking removes you from each other’s experience and stops contact. Reports are reviewed by our team. Read our Safety guidance and Community Guidelines.

Meeting in person. Meet in public, tell a friend where you’re going, and trust your instincts. If you’re ever in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first (112 in the EU).

Posts, map & notifications

Posts & the map. Share a photo of where you are; it appears as a polaroid on the map and in the feed. Tap places on the map to learn more and see who wants to go there.

Notifications. Enable push notifications when prompted to get told about new connection requests and messages. You can manage them anytime in your device Settings.
